Bakery Tour, YUM!

Toasted Almond Torte...a long standing joke in my family.  When Bob was first introduced to the toasted almond torte, he in true Bob fashion, made fun of us.  Why?  We never had a function without one.  My mother always bought them-for almost every occasion.  The torte never enticed Bob and so he just made fun of us.  But, Kretchmar's Bakery's toasted almond torte is TO DIE FOR.  When I told him we were going on a bakery tour of Kretchmar's the jokes abound.

So, when Patti from BFF posted the Kretchmar's Bakery Tour event, we couldn't possibly miss it.  Plus, it was the first bakery tour for the boys and they love their sweets.  Mr. Kretchmar's grandson was our tour guide.  We learned many different things and had the opportunity to look in the enormous oven that holds something like 200 cakes at a time!  2010 marks the 50th Anniversary of Kretchmar's Bakery and we were glad to be a part of it.  We were given yummy cupcakes to celebrate and had special time with our friends at the parky nearby.  If you haven't had a Kretchmar's pastry, you may want to indulge. And yes, there was icing EVERYWHERE!
